Coromate(Extra)
Hydrogen controlled, basic coated electrode, designed for welding of (a) low alloy high strength steels, (b) weathering (atmospheric corrosion resistant) steels represented by ASTM A 242 & 588, such as CORTEN-A&B, D40S, SAILCOR. While incorporating requisite alloying elements - Cu, Cr, Ni - in weld metal for the purpose of corrosion resistance in marine environment, care has been taken to confer on weld metal exceptionally high degree of ductility and notch toughness. Another feature is the low level of diffusible hydrogen (below 5ml/100g.) in weld metal, so as to reduce risk of HIC in HAZ or weld metal.
- Ease of operation in all positions
- Smooth and stable arc which is easy to strike & restrike, combined with low spatter and with due control on molten pool
- Slag detachability with little effort.
- Finely rippled bead with regular profile.
- Welds of consistent X-ray quality.
- Weld metal which possesses excellent mechanical properties and displays resistance to cracking caused by heavy stresses and/or hydrogen.
- Resistance to atmospheric corrosion.
