Hydrogen controlled, basic-coated iron powder type electrode. Presence of 3.5% Ni imparts to weld metal a high degree of low temperature notch toughness. The electrode is thus well suited for welding fine grained steels, HSLA steels, used in penstocks, pressure vessels, piping, valves & tanks; in particular, 3.5% Ni steel used for LNG tankers, LNG storage tanks, ethylene production equipment to be used at about minus 100°C, and tankers for transportation of liquified ethylene.
