Silvershine-320:

A fully austenitic stainless steel electrode with basic covering. * Columbium stabilized, together with Molybdenum and Copper additions and this alloying combination confers high degree of corrsion resistance to sulphuric acid, other mineral acids, organic acids.

Application:This electrode is for welding of base materials mentioned above, mostly castings, in chemical process industry and metal cleaning and pickling operations.Tanks, cast pumps & valves, agitators and rotors, heat exchangers.

Notes on usage:

Clean the joint faces thoroughly to remove any foreign matter.
Use stainless steel wire brush for cleaning welds.
Redry electrodes for 1-2 hours at 200°-250°C, after taking care to place electrodes in the oven at room temperature. Thereafter, allow the oven to cool to 60°-80°C. & maintain at this temperature before removing the electrodes for using. In the alternative, transfer the electrodes to a holding oven maintained at 60°-80°C. Avoid excessive redrying, i.e. not over 300°C, and not more than two cycles of 2 hours each.
For best results, use this electrode on DC(+) only. Use short arc to the extent possible Minimize weaving
In line with the safe practices in welding of austenitic stainless steels, avoid build up of heat and keep interpass temperature below 150°C.
Use welding currents within the range and also as low as possible, consistent with proper fusion, to control heat input and dilution, so as to prevent micro-fissuring in HAZ or in weld metal. It has to be noted that this fully austenitic stainless steel is highly sensitive to heat input and to impurities.
If necessary, use buttering technique at lowest possible heat input (small diameter electrode).
