Silvershine-316L-15:
- Extra low carbonbasic coated electrode for all positions except vertical top to bottom.
- Exhibits smooth running.
- Soft and stable arc with ease of striking, with negligeable splatter.
- Easy de-slagging.
- Good bead appearance,through somewhat convex profile;
- Austenitic weld depositwith controlled ferrite to prevent cracking, and to derive notch toughness at subzero temperatures down to minus 196°C.
- High resistance to inter-crystalline corrosion.
- Welds of consistent x-ray quality.
- Basic coating with a well advanced formulation, to yield a weld metal with grain-refinement and higher purity levels.
- Low Oxygen content to improve notch toughness and ductility at subzero temperatures down to minus 196°C so as to meet code requirement of 15mils(0.38mm) min. charpy lateral expansion.
- These properties render the electrode suitable for cryogenic services such as liquid oxygen plants.
- Electrodes displays higher tolerance to advertise site conditions of wind and droughts.
Identification:Name Printed
Application:Suitable for AISI316L steel, especially highly corrosive for commercial conditions in which the controlled low ferrite confers superior resistance to corrosion. Many a time this 316L type electrode is preferred for welding 304L base material in fabrication of Liquid Oxygen tanks.

Notes on usage:
- Redry electrode at 250°C or 300°C for one hour.Thereafter either allow the oven to cool slowly to about 80°C or transfer them to a holding oven maintianed at 50°C or 60°C.
- Clean the joint faces to remove moisture, grease or any foreign matter.
- Employ welding current within the prescribes range.
- Keep the arc as short as possible.
- Restrict the weaving of electrode within two and a half times of the core diameter wire.
- Use stainless steel wire brush for cleaning the weld beads.
- Control heat input.No preheat required.Maximum interpass temperature 150°C.
